Surgiva becomes Carbon Neutral

Trentino water company’s commitment to sustainability continues reducing the climate impact of its direct emissions to zero.

Surgiva, which has always been attentive to sustainability, has obtained Carbon Neutrality Scope 1, 2 and partial 3 certification. This result is the fruit of a process of reduction and offsetting of the company’s carbon footprint, including both direct emissions and part of indirect emissions, according to the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol).

The certification was awarded by Climate Partner, an international company whose mission is to reduce CO2 emissions worldwide and support climate protection projects, which are essential for improving life in developing countries.

Surgiva has adopted a systematic approach to reducing emissions, based on three fundamental steps: calculate, reduce and offset. The Trento-based company has improved energy efficiency through investments and optimisation of production processes and now uses energy from exclusively renewable sources, including from the photovoltaic park installed on the plant.

Surgiva then offset the remaining emissions by supporting a renewable energy project, thus ensuring the company’s carbon neutrality.

The commitment to environmental protection is also demonstrated by the company’s virtuous behaviour with regard to waste, 99% of which was destined for recovery in 2023.

“Surgiva water springs from an uncontaminated oasis, the Adamello Brenta Park and is a gift from nature. It is the fruit of glaciers that today tell us about the fragility of the planet, and we believe that it is even more our responsibility to protect the environment and the ecosystem that guarantees the purity of our source. This is why we wanted to measure and reduce the impact of our activity and we are, today, very proud to have achieved carbon neutrality,’ says President Matteo Lunelli.

Surgiva’s achievement of Carbon Neutrality represents a significant step in the sustainability path that Gruppo Lunelli has been following for years. A path outlined in the Sustainability Report, published from 2020 for Ferrari Trento and from 2023 for the entire group, which includes, in addition to Surgiva and Ferrari Trento, also Tenute Lunelli, Segnana, Bisol1542 and Tassoni.
